Dave is in wonderful condition with a coat of glass in rich mahogany bay. He is an exceptionally polite and gentle soul with large expressive eyes, and a soft quiet manner. Although he has great looks, his strongest attribute is that he is quiet to ride and enjoys hacking alone. He is very happy open spaces and forest tracks, doesn’t get in a tizz if he sees horses in the distance, and is push on rather than hold back. He regularly meets sheep, cows, dogs, and pigs and is fully accepting of other life forms.
Dave is a friendly fellow who is always good to catch, shoe, hose, clip, and load. He knows how to neck rein, open and shut gates, maintaining rhythm and balance on a loose rein in all gaits. He has a steady even canter, a soft mouth, and likes to stay chilled.
As he is a sports horse type, he would be best suited to an owner who isn’t looking to the horse for confidence, but rather would like a horse who won’t knock current confidence levels. Dave is ideal for a rider who despairs of finding a patient well mannered riding horse to enjoy the countryside with since they are increasingly rare. He is nicely schooled, and it goes without saying he is equally suitable for lessons, local dressage, and RC activities.
Dave is a great friend who will enhance his new owner’s life for many years to come.
Connelly is a good example of a traditional Irish gypsy cob. He has a sweet kind nature with smooth easy paces in all gaits. He is beautifully marked, close coupled, and a straight active mover, enhanced by a flowing mane and full feathers. True traditionals such as he were bred for temperament as much as looks and performance. He has no added blood such as Shire or Clydesdale, and is a direct descendant of original lineage from a rich heritage still flourishing in Ireland.
True gypsy cobs are bred to be safe on the ground, especially around children. Those that even thought of kicking were never bred from, and are extremely reliable with their back legs. Connelly is no exception, an easy sweet horse to handle on the ground at all times. He isn’t too broad across the beam either, a bonus if your hips don’t like being stretched.
As a result of his Foundation Training, he is an educated balanced ride, with a super natural canter, voice trained through all the gears, confident hacking alone, and non-competitive in company. He feels very much at home with cows, sheep, gates, loose dogs, and has been successfully introduced to pigs. He enjoys flat work and jumping, and is a competent all rounder for a variety of activities such as Le Trec, Sponsored Rides, local shows and dressage.
Connelly is good to catch, loads himself into a box or trailer, in traffic, to hot shoe, hose, and clip. He is house trained in the stable and can be left alone in the field without company. He is an active fellow, willing yet steady. He's happy to switch between plod and work mode, with the ability and training to be a reliable all rounder.
Toby’s training is well documented in his diary, and his progress is impressive. Not only has he furnished up physically, with a lovely jumper’s bum, he is mentally mature and educated to ride. He is very much a people person, actively choosing to be with his owner/handler even when turned out. His openness and honesty throughout his training means he is receptive and enjoyable to work with, learning new skills and lateral movements with willingness and courage.
As many of you know, we were preparing Toby for his return to Teresa, where he would be required ride amongst loose livestock. Although he has much improved with all animals, including pigs, he has grown in stature and ability beyond Teresa’s current needs. Easy and reliable as he is hacking alone and in company, we feel he is equally well suited to all round activities such as dressage, jumping, sponsored rides etc.
He has a real pop in him, enjoys schooling and doing a bit of everything while remaining calm and relaxed. He is used to working in open spaces, where he has no difficulty concentrating, responding to the voice in all gaits and transitions, and is a safe fun ride.
Toby feels very established, is soft and responsive to the hand, with a thorough understanding of the aids. He carries himself in balance at all paces and gradients without feeling strong or anticipating your next move. With his positive outlook on life, he is ideal for a rider seeking versatility and a willing partner across a range of disciplines, or a mother and daughter share.
Badger is a beautiful little horse, extremely polite and gentle, and so easy to handle. He has an affectionate kind nature and loves being around people. He is a light well schooled ride, carries himself well while maintaining balance and rhythm even on a droopy rein.
We have hacked Badger extensively on his own in forests and open fields since last year. He is good with all livestock including pigs, and is happy to go in front, beside or behind another in company. He is very good with all traffic, grazes in a mixed herd, is easy to catch, clip, hot shoe, and travel.
Badger is light in the mouth with balanced even paces up and downhill, on circles, and turns inside and away from the menage. Connemaras are renowned for their versatility and jumping in competition. He calmly jumps whatever is in front of him, and is ideal for long hacks, Le Trec, all RC/PC activities, and a mother/daughter share.
Badger is that hard to find horse to combine stress free riding in the countryside with regular lessons, shows, and more, for a rider with previous experience of horse ownership.
